Does not last

Bought microwave 3.5 yrs ago. Recently the Microwave started reseting after running for 2 seconds. The first really annoying part is that you have to reset the time and date to get the microwave to function again (I hate this!!!) You cannot use until time and date are set. Found out that RF(Radio Frequency) Mag tube inside of microwave is leaking and the RF is reseting the circuit board causing the microwave to reset. The cost to repair is greater than the amount to buy another one. GE should make a better product. Purchased the unit for around $200 so you do the math as to how much it cost per year to use. I will not buy another GE Microwave These things should last longer than a few years.

Avoid if possible

We've had this GE over the range microwave for a few years. Like the other writer I have been slowly driven mad by having to reset the date and time whenever there is a brownout/blackout BEFORE the microwave will work again. And of course, resetting the clock isn't intuitive. Seeing the blinking 12:00 now makes me look for my car keys and head out to dinner. This is just inexcusably bad engineering! Last week it finally bid adieu with a loud bang and shower of sparks as it shorted out internally. I've never been really happy with any GE products and this time will give LG a try.

Damn GE microwave is driving me nuts

I have the same problem with my GE over-the-stove microwave. It runs for 1-2 seconds, then stops and tells me to re-set the clock. Usually, I have to do it 3-4 times. Annoying as hell. Sometimes, it still won't work and I eventually give up. Seems to be getting worse. No more GE microwaves for me!

cheap electronics barely outlast the warranty

This is the second GE Microwave I have owned; they operate nicely but seem prone to having the control circuit board just burn out or stop working. Each time, the unit failed just a few months past the year warranty; the cost of the circuit board and someone to come and replace it is more than the original cost of the microwave! Sadly I have learned (finally) never to buy another GE microwave again. I think they are made to fail and to keep the repair division in business.

Died after 6 months

If I could give this microwave less than a star I would. This microwave is less than a year old and the keypad quit working. Since the keypad won't work, I can't set the time. Without setting the time, the microwave doesn't work at all and neither do the lights or fan. Don't buy this piece of junk.
